The Best Indoor Grills

At ManOnPoint we talk a lot about getting in shape. In order to do that, working out is only half the equation–the other half is diet. If you eat like crap, the results you’ll see in the gym, most likely, will also be crap. Fortunately, eating right isn’t too difficult. Whether your bulking up or looking to lean out, there will be a common denominator in your diet: protein. Protein, the key building block of muscle, is the crucial macronutrient for a successful diet.

It’s easy enough to get protein by picking up a hamburger or ordering in a cheese steak. However, if you want to take your diet to the next level, you should look to prepare your own food. An easy way to prepare your own protein is an Indoor Grill. Here are what we think are the best indoor grills on the market today.

TOP PICK: Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill

A no frills easy to use grill at an unbeatable price, the Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill is our top pick. Easily usable both indoor and out, this grill, weighing in at only around 8 lbs can handle any piece of meat you toss at it. As a matter of fact, the surface area is well over 100 square inches, enough to comfortable slap on half a dozen burgers or so. The grill temperature tops out around 450 degrees, which is more than sufficient for a nice sear and whatever inside temperature you desire. Sure, hardcore grilling aficionados might want higher temperatures, but for the price and convenience of the Hamilton Beach Grill it’s more than good enough.

Now, let’s face it, grilling is the fun part–the part after that, the cleaning, not so much. Fortunately, the Indoor Searing Grill is non-stick, has an easily removable grill plate, and a huge drip pan which makes it ridiculously easy to clean. And, it’s usually the lowest priced option in our round up! All in all, a great grill for an even greater price–impossible to beat value here.

HIGH END OPTION: Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 4-qr Air Fryer, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Indoor Electric Grill

On the other end of the spectrum is our runner up, the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 Indoor Electric Grill. It’s price tag is a bit above our first place Hamilton Beach option, but with the Ninja Foodi you not only get state of the art grilling capabilities (6000 BTU equivalent power, and temperatures of up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit) you also get easy access to four other modes of operation: Air Fryer, Roast, Bake, and Dehydrate. These modes of operation make this device way more versatile than a regular grill–people make everything from burgers to biscuits on this bad boy.

Weighing in a little heavier than it’s competition (no surprise, given the features and power), it’s a durable piece of of equipment that’s built to last. Cleaning it is easy enough, the the added features make it a little bit more work than the simpler Hamilton Beach Grill. The bottom line is this: if you want the most versatile and powerful indoor grill on the market and are willing to pay a little bit extra for it, the Ninja Foodi 5-in-1 4-qr Indoor Electric Grill is the one for you.

RUNNER UP: Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Another great choice if for some reason the Hamilton Beach Indoor Grill or Ninja Foodi option don’t quite suit your fancy is the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler. While the 5-in-1 feature set of the Cuisinart isn’t quite what you get with the Ninja Foodi, it’s “press format” lid makes it a great option not only for full grilling but for use as a panini press or a griddle.

A high quality option from Cuisinart, the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler gets the job done with almost the power of the Ninja Foodi and when used as an open grill, the ability to garner extra grill space, though that use case often defeats some of the benefits of an indoor grill.

If griddle features are useful to you, the extra cost of the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 is well worth it–honestly, for many uses beyond good old fashioned grilling, the Cuisinart might be the best choice for the money on this list. Only slightly more difficult cleaning, a bit higher cost than the Hamilton, and less grill space with the lid closed keep the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 from taking our top prize.
